Lighten Up Alabama!
Lighten Up Alabama is a fun health and fitness awareness program that encourages Alabamians to develop healthy, active lifestyles and eating habits. The Employee Health and Fitness Day Walk - part of the Lighten Up Alabama program - is a free non-competitive walking event designed to encourage walking as part of a health and fitness routine.

A Free Non-Competitive Walking Event
- 1. Participants should gather on the South Lawn of the State Capitol by noon for this event.
- 2. The course is approximately one mile and can be walked or jogged at your own pace. Twenty-five minutes are provided to complete the course.
- 3. All participants completing the Walk will receive a participant ribbon and will be eligible to win a door prize.
- 4. Fruit and drinks will be available at the Finish Line.
- 5. Drawings for door prizes will take place after the completion of the walk. Winners must be present.
- 6. Fitness and Wellness related vendors will be set up before and after the Walk. Blood pressure checks, compliments of the State Wellness Program, will also be available.
